Attribution and data sources

We publish where every field comes from, because a data product you cannot trace is a data product you cannot build a business on.

SourceWhat we use it forHow it is attributed
Our own catalogue platformSets, cards, numbers, rarities, artists, release dates, print regions, translated names in six languages, and the card images served from media.rarebit.app. The card game text is not ours — see the entry below.First-party. Ours to serve, and no attribution is owed to anyone else for it.
TCGdexCard game text — attacks, abilities, weaknesses, resistances, subtypes, retreat costs, rules and flavour text — in English, matched onto the cards our own catalogue already carries. No price figure is taken from them.Open database, MIT licensed. We carry their copyright notice with the data and link the project here.
TCGplayerPrice guide figures — the LOW and MARKET series, in USD — refreshed daily and served no sooner than 24 hours after capture. The figures remain TCGplayer property. Every row we serve names them in its provenance field, so the attribution travels with the number into your product.
CardmarketListing figures — lowest price, 1/7/30-day averages and trend, in EUR, per printing language — refreshed daily since November 2024 and served no sooner than 24 hours after capture, on cards and on sealed products.Published as delayed, aggregated figures, never as individual listings. Every row names Cardmarket in its provenance field.
CardTraderListing figures — the lowest and the market price, in EUR, per language and condition — refreshed daily and served no sooner than 24 hours after capture.Published as delayed, aggregated figures, never as individual listings. Every row names CardTrader in its provenance field.
PriceChartingPrice guide figures, including median graded prices that carry the grading company (PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC) and score, refreshed daily and served no sooner than 24 hours after capture. The figures remain PriceCharting property. Every row we serve names them in its provenance field.
eBayMedian asking prices for professionally graded copies (PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC), per grading company and grade, in USD, refreshed daily and served no sooner than 24 hours after capture. Active listings, not completed sales.Published as medians over listings, never as individual items. Every row names eBay in its provenance field.
European Central Bank reference ratesDaily EUR reference rates. Used only to express our composite index in EUR — no figure in a response is converted, and no endpoint takes a currency parameter.Public reference data, redistributable with attribution.
Community submissionsPrice observations submitted by API customers under our terms. None are being served yet: measured over the 100 highest-index cards on 2026-09-03, no community row came back.Licensed to us by the submitter. No personal data is stored with an observation.

That table is the whole list: every price row you receive names one of those sources in its own provenance field, and nothing else reaches you.

Prices carry their own attribution in the response itself — each price object states its source, basis, as_of and a provenance string you can print next to the number. The methodology page explains how the composite index is computed, what figure each source gives you, and how old it is before we serve it.

Trademarks

Unofficial. Not produced, endorsed, supported by or affiliated with Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc. or The Pokémon Company International. Pokémon and all related marks are trademarks of their respective owners.

Card names, set names, illustrations and card text are the property of their respective rights holders. We publish a factual database about published cards; we do not claim any right in the underlying works, and we do not use any third-party logo, wordmark or typeface in our own branding.

If you hold rights in material served through this API and want it removed, write to [email protected]. We act on takedown requests within one business day: a price source is switched off with a single statement against our policy table, which takes effect across every worker within a minute and needs no deploy.
